Control What You Can

A weekly reset rooted in discipline, clarity, and control before the week begins

Most people don’t enter the week.
They get pulled into it.

Monday shows up, the noise starts, and suddenly you’re reacting to emails, deadlines, expectations, and everything you didn’t prepare for. By the time you catch your breath, the week is already deciding for you.

But there’s a moment before all of that.

Right now.

The Stoics understood something simple but powerful:
you don’t control what happens…you control how you meet it.

Not the workload.
Not other people.
Not the unexpected problems that will inevitably show up.

But you do control:

  • your preparation
  • your priorities
  • your response

That’s where stability comes from. Not from a perfect week, but from a steady approach to whatever the week brings.

The difference between a chaotic week and a disciplined one usually isn’t time.

It’s clarity.

When you don’t decide what matters, everything feels urgent.
When you don’t set direction, you drift.
When you rely on motivation, you hesitate.

I’ve had weeks where I felt constantly behind, like I was working all day but not actually moving forward. And every time, it came back to the same thing: I hadn’t taken the time to decide how I was going to show up.

No structure. No intention. Just reaction.

And reaction is exhausting.

So before the week begins, take a few minutes and reset.

Not to plan everything, but to anchor yourself.

Ask yourself:

  • What is one thing I will control no matter what this week?
  • What actually matters and what can wait?
  • How do I want to show up when things don’t go as planned?

Write it down. Keep it simple. Be honest.

You’re not trying to build the perfect week.
You’re deciding how you’re going to meet it.

The week is coming either way.

The question is whether you’ll enter it with intention—or let it take shape around you.

Make this your weekly reset.

Sovereign Sunday isn’t about motivation—it’s about preparation.
It’s a practice you return to.

If this resonated, follow along and come back next Sunday.

Before you go:
What’s one thing you’re choosing to control this week?
