Our Rules and Policies
At Arbor Vitae Voiceworks, we take our services seriously and want to ensure we deliver the best possible customer experience. As such, we provide this overview of our standing policies for your awareness and consideration.
Retakes
Retakes are mistakes made by our performers so, of course, all retakes are provided at no-cost to the client.
REvisions
Revisions are change requests made by the client after the recording is completed. Revision rates are dependent on numerous factors, but clients should consider the following as minimum charges for revisions:
- Minor (no more than three (3) words): $25 per revision
- Major (more than three (3) words): $50 min per revision
- Re-Reads (~50% of the original script): Original rate since it’s essentially a new project
performance retakes (Undirected Sessions)
- In cases where the client requests another take for performance reasons, i.e., uhappy with the tone, pitch, nuance, etc., AVV will perform one complimentary round of performance retakes. In this instance, the client is requested to provide all feedback and direction prior to the retake. Any subsequent rounds will be considered Revisions (see above).
- Unless specific pronunciation is provided by the client in advance, via guide or other written instruction, retakes based on pronunciation preferences will be considered billable revisions (see above). This applies to variations of words such as “data” (day-tuh/daa-tuh) and “either” (eye-ther/ee-ther).
- All retake requests should be submitted no later than 30 days from receipt of the original recording and should include specific directions regarding the requested change such as the specific line or words and time stamp. All retake requests received beyond the aforementioned 30 days shall be charged as a new project.
New & international clients
All new U.S. clients and all international clients are required to pay all invoices in full before any AVV files are delivered. This policy remains in effect until a trusted client relationship is established.
Ai/synthetic voices policy
The Client expressly agrees not to use any portion of AVV’s recordings or performances for purposes other than those specified in the initial Agreement between the parties, which explicitly prohibits the creation of synthetic voices or use for machine learning.
Specifically, the Client shall not use any recordings or performances of AVV artists to simulate the their voice or likeness, or to create any synthesized or “digital double” voice or likeness of the artist.
The Client specifically agrees not to sell or transfer ownership of all or part of any of the recordings or the performances of AVV artists to any third party without the AVV’s prior knowledge and written consent.
The Client agrees not to enter into any agreements or contracts on behalf of AVV which utilize all or any part of any of the recordings or the performances of the artists without AVV’s prior knowledge and written consent. The Client agrees that any recordings or performances stored in a digital format will be stored securely to prevent unauthorized third parties from gaining access to the files containing AVV artist’s voice or likeness. If such files are stored in “the cloud,” the Client agrees to safeguard them through encryption or other current technological means.
